JL is an artist and instrumentalist. They investigate transgressive temporalities, the sonic history of diaspora, and the potential energy of community listening. They work with interoceptive and archival sounds, field recordings, and interactive electronics in addition to piano, guitar, and synthesizers to create installations and electroacoustic compositions.

Drawing from practices in oral history and historiographical cartography, JL has collaborated with listeners on streets and sidewalks around the world.
