"Migration Pattern" was created in collaboration between JL Simonson, Z Dong, J Falkner, and A Goldsmith. Imposing on ourselves a strict deadline, we wrote, shot, and edited the film together within the span of a single month with minor editing added later. Created with the central concept of transition and liminality in mind, Migration Pattern explores changing relationships to the self and to others in the format of an experimental short film. Working in a language of vignettes, the film draws on the intensely individual and often lonely nature of growth. The heavily collaborative aspect of the production speaks to shared navigation of personal change, but also as a testament to the friendships of the makers and our efforts to connect with each other.
